Definition:

  • (v. t.) To smear or rub over with oil or an unctuous substance; also, to spread over, as oil.
  • (v. t.) To apply oil to or to pour oil upon, etc., as a sacred rite, especially for consecration.
  • (p. p.) Anointed.
