(1) In 130 patients, who were considered to be anti-HTLV-I positive or negative by the PA method, we compared the anti-HTLV-I detection rates and the specificity of the following three EIA methods: the Ei-test ATL and two new EIA methods using different recombinant antigens which recognize different sites.
(2) A preoperative carotid evaluation by a Duplex Scanner ATL Mark V has been carried out in 338 patients candidates to CABG.
(3) Electron microscopic and photomicroscopic analysis of HTLV-I+ ATL-2 cells showed that ADF was localized on both the cell membrane and cytosol.
(4) ATL cells freshly obtained from patients and ATL cell lines produced limited amounts of IL 1 by culturing in a low-calcium concentration of medium (less than 0.01 mM).
(5) The MT-2, derived from an adult T-cell leukaemia (ATL) cell, the Molt-4F, a human T-cell line, and the Isk, an EB virus-transformed B-cell line, were found to have high-affinity receptors for somatostatin, a cyclic tetradecapeptide that inhibits the release of substances such as growth hormone, TSH, glucagon, insulin, secretin, gastrin and cholecystokinin.
(6) All infants were investigated with a 5 MHz probe (ATL Mark 600 and Acuson 128).
(7) In the present study the relation between spleen size and blood flow in the splenic and portal vein was evaluated in 33 patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension using pulsed Doppler sonography (Ultramark 9, ATL, Solingen, FRG).
(8) Prehospital advanced trauma life support (ATLS) is controversial because the risks, benefits, and time required to accomplish it remain unknown.
(9) There were 50 patients in the before ATLS group, with a mean age of 41.6 years and an ISS of 29.8, and 71 patients in the after ATLS group, with a mean age of 40.6 years and an ISS of 30.6.
(10) The ATL samples were positive for pX, env, and pol DNA by PCR.
(11) The degree of inhibition of protein synthesis, however, was not closely correlated with expression of CD25 antigen (low-affinity Mr 55,000 glycoprotein, IL-2R, Tac antigen) on ATL cells.
(12) Since tissue from all patients was not available for HTLV-I screening, however, it is possible that other cases of ATL went undetected.
(13) The proviral DNA was positive and the diagnosis of smoldering ATL was made.
(14) The opposite tendencies characterize patients who undergo right ATL.
(15) The principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) were adopted and the experience is described under the ABCDE headings of the primary survey.
(16) Dr Atl is better known for his work as a landscape painter who portrayed the horizons of the valley of Mexico.
(17) Human anti-HTLV-I-antibodies, which were purified from sera from ATL patients reacted with not only HTLV-I virus particles but also their precursors located in the cytoplasm.
(18) A patient with adult T cell leukemia (ATL) whose chief complaint was marked swelling of left thigh is reported.
(19) Monoclonal integration of HTLV-1 proviral DNA was found, but the integration site was different from that of terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase (TdT)-positive MT-1 cells (an ATL cell line).
(20) Prognostic factors affecting the survival of adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) patients were analyzed in three groups: total cases, leukemia type cases, and lymphoma type cases.
