Dermis


Definition:

  • (n.) The deep sensitive layer of the skin beneath the scarfskin or epidermis; -- called also true skin, derm, derma, corium, cutis, and enderon. See Skin, and Illust. in Appendix.

Mesoderm


Definition:

  • (n.) The layer of the blastoderm, between the ectoderm and endoderm; mesoblast. See Illust. of Blastoderm and Ectoderm.

  • (n.) The middle layer of tissue in some vegetable structures.
