Liverwort


Definition:

  • (n.) A ranunculaceous plant (Anemone Hepatica) with pretty white or bluish flowers and a three-lobed leaf; -- called also squirrel cups.
  • (n.) A flowerless plant (Marchantia polymorpha), having an irregularly lobed, spreading, and forking frond.

Thallus


Definition:

  • (n.) A solid mass of cellular tissue, consisting of one or more layers, usually in the form of a flat stratum or expansion, but sometimes erect or pendulous, and elongated and branching, and forming the substance of the thallogens.
