(1) The lateral meniscus in some Prosimii contains one or two intramensical ossicles (lunulae).
(2) Cutaneous and systemic disorders in which red lunulae have been observed are reviewed.
(3) With the exception of children, amputations at the level of the lunula survive poorly by direct reattachment.
(4) Nail thickness increased from 43% of the final thickness over the mid-point of the lunula to 81% at its distal margin, the remaining increase in thickness being formed by the nail bed.

(16) Red lunulae are associated with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, alopecia areata, cardiac failure, hepatic cirrhosis, lymphogranuloma venereum, psoriasis, carbon monoxide poisoning, twenty-nail dystrophy, and reticulosarcoma.
(17) Lamellar excrescences are located along the lower boundary of the lunulas and occurred more often in those younger than 30 years.
(18) Although the biochemistry of bioluminescence in these dinoflagellates is generally similar, the observations that D. lunula and P. noctiluca apparently lack LBP and have luciferases with low MW single chains require further clarification.
(19) The nail disorders are mostly the absence of lunula (30%), related to the anaemia, and the half and half nail (36%) that seems specific of the severe azotaemia.
(20) We suggest the subungual tumor be treated by surgical excision, and to avoid later nail deformity, the tumor located around the lunula be approached by proximal half nail removal, a "U" or "+" incision on the nail bed and repair of the nail bed with 7 "0" or 8 "0" suture material.
