What's the difference between periblast and periplast?
Periblast
Definition:
(a.) The protoplasmic matter which surrounds the entoblast, or cell nucleus, and undergoes segmentation.
Example Sentences:
(1) Specialized accumulations of membranes lie in the marginal periblast, and it is suggested that they play a role in cell membrane formation.
(2) The subgerminal periblast possesses a greater proportion of yolk to cytoplasm than do the cells proper, but it merges with the cytoplasm at the incomplete borders of the 'open' cells.
(3) (2) The periblastic region, which also exhibits microvillous projections, is 250-550 micron wide and consists of numerous (80-120) lacunae that are 10-60 micron in diameter and up to 20 micron in depth.
(4) (3) At the outer periblastic region, the microvillous projections are less numerous.
Periplast
Definition:
(n.) Same as Periblast.
Example Sentences:
(1) : the outer membrane of host origin, periplast, subpellicular microtubules, kinetoplast, flagellum, flagellar pocket, multivesicular bodies.
(2) Leishman-Donovan bodies on electron microscopic examination had a trilaminar periplast, a large round nucleus with heavy blocks of marginated chromatin and two nucleoli, a short flagellum and a kinetoplast.
(3) The central part of the periplastic membrane corresponds to the protective mucoid layer.
(4) The periplastic membranes were almost invariably absent and the cytoplasmic membranes appeared in close contact with an enclosing layer of irregularly demarcated, electron dense amorphous substance.
(5) Marked changes occurred in the cells with the formation of crystal-like structures: cytoplasmic membrane became detached from the cell wall with the resultant contraction of the cytoplasm; large periplastic spaces formed.
(6) The treponemes were enveloped by a trilaminar cytoplasmic membrane and a trilaminar periplastic membrane.
(7) The occurrence of the periplastic membrane decreased with advancing ages of the chancres.
(8) The number of periplast fibrillae or tubuli amounted to 95-97 which is less than in other types of Leishmania.
(9) In 9.2% of the sections a trilaminar or a fragmentary trilaminar periplastic membrane was observed outside the cytoplasmic membrane and the axial filaments.
