Sediment


Definition:

  • (n.) The matter which subsides to the bottom, frrom water or any other liquid; settlings; lees; dregs.
  • (n.) The material of which sedimentary rocks are formed.

Silt


Definition:

  • (n.) Mud or fine earth deposited from running or standing water.
  • (v. t.) To choke, fill, or obstruct with silt or mud.
  • (v. i.) To flow through crevices; to percolate.
