What's the difference between shrove and shrovetide?
Shrove
Definition:

(v. i.) To join in the festivities of Shrovetide; hence, to make merry.
Example Sentences:
(1) Okonomiyaki – Japanese vegetable pancakes Okonomiyaki stands for "as you like it" – perfect for Shrove Tuesday when you could change that to "whatever you have" if you want to follow tradition and use up your stocks.
(2) The British-style pancakes served on Shrove Tuesday don't use one, whereas the breakfast variety served in the US do – typically baking powder, or whipped egg white, or both.
(3) This year, Shrove Tuesday, our Pancake Day, falls on 4 March.
