(1) It was shown that during anadromous migration before spawing, the level of corticosteroids in the blood increases, the increases beginning already during the sea period.
(2) The sheepshead minnow (Cyprinodon variegatus) was continuously exposed for 23 wk to the organochlorine insecticide endrin, from the embryonic state through hatching until adulthood and spawing.
(3) A slight regranulation and rise in the percentage of AF-positive cells occurs during early spawing period (July).
(4) Serum T4 concentrations decreased abruptly at the onset of metamorphosis and declined to levels observed in spawing adults (Leloup and Hardy, '76; Packard et al., '76) by the middle (stage 3) of metamorphosis.
