(1) Positive reactions were recorded in the following game species: impala (Aepyceros melampus), lechwe (Kobus leche), kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros), blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), gemsbok (Oryx gazella), springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) and tsessebe (Damaliscus lunatus).
(2) from the kudu, Longistrongylus meyeri from the steenbok from Riekerts Laager and the gemsbok, Longistrongylus sabie from the steenbok from the KNP, Longistrongylus schrenki from the tsessebe, Parabronema sp.
(3) Six ixodid tick species were present on guinea fowl in the Andries Vosloo Kudu Reserve.
(4) Armillifer armillatus, Linguatula serrata and L. nuttalli have each been isolated from nine different mammalian species in the Kruger National Park: lion, Panthera Leo; Leopard, P. pardus; buffalo, Syncerus caffer: blue wildebeest, Connechaetes taurinus; giraffe, Girraffa camelopardalis; kudu, Tragelophus strepsiceros; waterbuck, Kobus ellipsyprymnus; tsessebe, Damaliscus iunatus and impala, Aepyceros melampus.
(5) Acaricidal treatment of cattle, sheep and goats on a farm in Valley Bushveld in the Grahamstown district resulted in a reduction in the numbers of certain tick species on kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros), scrub hares (Lepus saxatilis) and crowned guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) on the same farm.
(6) An epizootic of rabies in the greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) occurred in Namibia during 1977-1983.
(7) This resulted in a marked reduction in all stages of development of Amblyomma hebraeum on kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros), scrub hares (Lepus saxatilis) and helmeted guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) which were on the farm compared with the burdens of similar animals in an adjacent nature reserve.
(8) In the eastern Cape Province every helmeted guinea fowl (Numida meleagris), scrub hare (Lepus saxatilis) and kudu from the Andries Vosloo Kudu Reserve; all but 1 of the 22 domestic cattle examined on the farm "Bucklands"; and all Angora goats plus nearly all Boer goats examined on the farm "Brakhill" were infested with this tick.
(9) However, 50% or more of helmeted guinea fowl and kudu from the Andries Vosloo Kudu Reserve; helmeted guinea fowl, scrub hares and eland (Taurotragus oryx) from the Mountain Zebra National Park; helmeted guinea fowl, kudu, domestic sheep, goats and cattle on the farm "Bucklands", and caracal (Felis caracal) from the Cradock and Southwell areas of the eastern Cape Province were infested with immature A. marmoreum.
(10) The helminths of all the kudu were collected and 2 trematode, 4 cestode and 18 nematode species recovered.
(11) Acid-fast organisms isolated from tissues of each kudu were identified as Mycobacterium bovis.
(12) Sixteen kudus were shot in the Andries Vosloo Kudu Reserve, eastern Cape Province and 9 on an adjacent farm.
(13) The majority of kudu harboured no worms, and the burdens of those infected were small.

(16) Intravenous injection of Cowdria ruminantium infected blood produced no sings of disease in four impala, Aepyceros melampus; three blue wildebeest, Connochaetes taurinus; a buffalo, Syncerus caffer; a kudu, Tragelaphus strepsiceros; a giraffe.
(17) Of these five, four were isolated from a greater kudu, a white tailed wildebeest, a white bearded wildebeest, and a cape hartebeest.
(18) Clinical, pathological and epidemiological details of scrapie-like encephalopathies are described in an arabian oryx and a greater kudu.
